Charline Southeast, better known as Lorekeeper (the second) is a woman shrouded in mystery that protects the balance of the Alteraverse, and most importantly, is the protector and creator of the Homeverse. She is renowned to be a righteous and wise person, her advice often being considered by most people in the Multiverse. She is a person to eventually meet the gods and rulers of the Multiverse she is in. To finish, she is the wife of Masune, a great witch and engineer of the Mahotale universe.
Biography[]
Charline originally was the Chara of a universe that was not very different from that of Undertale. Born as the Null Witch, she was considered as a cursed creature by the Humans of her village for most of her life. This eventually led her to flee to the Underground. Only a few persons know what happened there, and Charline avoids the subject. She tends to state that the Dreemurrs weren't actual persons in her universe, and, pushed to her breaking point, she ended up involuntarily using her powers, annihilating the near-entirety of her AU.
Then, she wandered in the remnants of her universe without a goal until, after multiple years, she met Souls, who recruited her in the Trouble Troup. Since then, she lived many adventures with the Trouble Troup, meeting people. She eventually met Lady Coreally, the leader of a Multiversal ruling force known as the Guardians as well as the first Lorekeeper (the keeper of the grimoire known as the Alteralore). Both became rivals, though Lady Coreally was much more powerful than her.
Eventually, Charline started to regain not only her self-confidence, but also started to trust both Humans and Monsters. However, Lady Coreally ended up dying after a violent fight with an unknown person. She decided to give the Alteralore to Charline, also entrusting her the title of Lorekeeper. This led her to leave the Trouble Troup (alongside a member known as Psyka, that would later on become White_Glitch) and to create the Homeverse, a place similar to the Omega Timeline. Soon after, she met Wolfy!Chara and Masune, the latter of which eventually became her wife. She also became known as the true guardian of the Multiverse, since not only the actual rulers were incapable of doing their work properly, but also created many problems for the inhabitants of the Multiverse itself.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Lorekeeper!Chara looks like an ordinary woman. She has a long, brown hair that goes as far as her back and wears blue, round glasses. Deciding on a very simple look, she wears a blue sweatshirt and shorts, the sweatshirt featuring one dark purple stripe on it.
She may also wear a brown trench coat.
Personality[]
Lorekeeper!Chara is a calm and collected person. At first she may seem to be a stern and serious woman, but actually enjoys joking a lot, pranking people she likes quite a bit. Polite, very kind and very generous, she tends to be very appreciated by most inhabitants of the Multiverse. She, however, tends to prioritize others before herself and to avoid talking about her past. She also often shows herself to be very serious when it comes to protecting the Alteraverse. She also dislikes persons that hurt others and would lack any pity towards those that hurt those that she cares about.
While she is renowned to be serious and caring when protecting others, she can also be quite lazy when it comes to other duties, and even slightly avoidant of them. She also likes to have time to be alone, often reading books during said spare times. While it can happen, she also has trouble developing a deep bond with others. But even then, she is very good at analyzing people.
Abilities[]
- Magical gun: It is the weapon she originally used back in her universe. It originally allowed her to fire many different kinds of magical projectiles, but she now uses it to fire sedatives.
- Null magic: Charline's main power is to "devour" almost everything, material or ethereal. It can be living persons, memories, powers, distance between two places, or other things. However, it has two flaws. First of all, when she uses it, she enters a state in which she loses control, just "devouring" everything that comes in her way. Second, she doesn't get any knowledge or power she "devours". In fact, everything she takes with her black matter is turned into nutrients and mana for her. Because of this, once she has consumed too much, she can start vomitting a lot and have great nausea once she gets back to her normal state (this may get intensified by her disgust for absorbing lives). This doesn't use mana but a special form of negative energy, so it would be enhanced by any necron she would be close to.
- Witch magic: As a witch, Charline has the ability to use many spells. Unfortunately, since she is a Human, she is incapable of drawing a pentagram in the air by using her mana. Instead, she has to physically draw them, using whatever is around her to help herself. She uses some more often than the others. The most used are:
- Elemental magic - Blue dream: She has to draw the pentagram on herself to use it, but if she does, she can fly freely.
- Structure modification - The Master's pen: This spell allows Charline to create areas of different sizes in which she has absolute control. This is, most notably, how she created the Homeverse. The larger the pentagram is, the larger the area is. This spell most notably allows her to use the "Rewrite" in any area she created.
- Elemental magic (light and darkness) - Monochromatic life: It allows Charline to temporarily absorb all the light around her, used for stealth. The light is stocked in the pentagram. The larger the pentagram is, the higher the spell's duration. Once the spell stops acting, all the light comes back to the environment, creating a flash that may blind people.
- Elemental magic (light) - The wraith: It allows Charline to become transparent. Unfortunately for her, she still is visible, and she's not immaterial.
- Solidify: Charline can solidify her body. This applies to her bones, her muscles, and her skin. Her skin in this state becomes as though as bamboo, her muscles as tough as reinforced concrete, and her bones as tough as hardened steel. Charline rarely uses this ability. Also, her organs, such as her eyes, are still as fragile as they are usually.
- Glitch Hop: It allows Lorekeeper to travel between AUs.
- White Shadow: With this ability, Lorekeeper starts looking like a white figure. When she uses it, she gets the ability to deactivate electrical devices.
- Necronomicon: A cursed grimore offered by Narra and Vyz (Death and Life, respectively). Rarely used by Lorekeeper, it grants her the following powers:
- Necromantic Invocation: It allows her to summon dead people.
- Compromized Resurrection: This allows her to bring back the souls of dead people as undead, ghosts or demons.
- Posthumous Borrowing: Thanks to this, Lorekeeper can borrow the knowledge and powers of a dead person until its soul has been completely consumed. She rarely uses it, only ever doing so with people that have been immensely cruel in their lifetimes.
- Vision: The Alteralore gives Lorekeeper the possibility to visualize and edit the past, present, and future of the inhabitants of the Alteraverse using the "Rewrite" ability. This is the ability she uses the last often. This is because, first of all, she believes it's dangerous and irresponsible to play with fate, but also because she believes it is an incursion in the lives of others. While she may look at the fate and pasts of some inhabitants of the Alteraverse, she has used the "Rewrite" only once in her life, doing so on the Psyka that would later become White_Glitch. Also, she can only use it on the inhabitants of the Alteraverse.
Relationships[]
Masune[]
She is the leader of the Guardians of the Alteraverse. She is a very important person for Lorekeeper. Masune was also Lady Coreally's student before her death. She is a person that Lorekeeper has a lot of affection and admiration for, to the point where both ended up getting married.
Tetsuka[]
Tetsuka, Masune's daughter, considers Lorekeeper to be her second mom, which doesn't seem to annoy Lore except for the fact that it makes her "sound old". Unfortunately, Lorekeeper doesn't have as many occasions to spend time with her daughter as she wished to, entrusting Marie to her. Despite everything, both are close and she makes sure to prioritize Tetsuka as much as possible.
White_Glitch[]
The second person Lorekeeper has ever met in the Alteraverse. Both consider each-other as very close sisters. White_Glitch was Lorekeeper's first true friend and as such she has a lot of affection for her.
The reason Lorekeeper got her white complexion was because she had to get White_Glitch outside of the White_Void.
Wolfy!Chara[]
Many wonder if the two really appreciate each-other or if Lore just tolerates Wolfy. In fact, both adore each-other, but Lore is way too serious to admit it. Furthermore, she can get tired from the lycan's pranks. Generally, Wolfy is the first person that Lorekeeper sends if she wants to evaluate the power of an opponent.
Marie[]
A young, amnesic woman taken in the Homeverse by Masune and Lorekeeper. She quickly developed a lot of respect and gratitude for the two women, deciding to work for her to thank them. She is way more loyal to Masune than she is to Lore, and tends, if she has the time, to criticize Lore's decisions when she doesn't agree with them. She also eventually developed a passion for sorcery when she saw her two mistresses using it, secretly training to become a witch when she gets the time. If Wolfy "tests" the opponents, Marie is there to permanently get rid of them, taking care of the opponents that are too powerful or too smart for the lycan. She also is tasked with watching over Wolfy!Chara and taking care of Tetsuka when nobody else can.
Souls[]
- Main article: Souls
Souls is Lorekeeper's former boss, as she used to work for the Trouble Troup. Their opposed intents made them take very distinct paths, but both greatly respect each-other. He is the Alteraverse criminal that Lorekeeper has the most tolerance towards, even allying with him from time to time.
Gullivers Supra[]
- Main article: Gullivers Supra
A good friend of Lorekeeper. She originally gave him the occasion to expand his financial empire in the Homeverse in exchange of teaching White_Glitch, so the girl gets basic education and knowledge. Both seem to appreciate discussing with each-other.
Martial Reinholt[]
The cat and Lorekeeper became enemies as soon as she tried to stop him from deleting White_Glitch, back when she used to be a normal Psyka. Their relationship only became worse through the years, especially since Lady Coreally's death, as the cat became very jealous of the Null Witch. However, while Martial hates Lorekeeper from the deepest depths of his soul and considers her to be a nuisance, Lore feels almost nothing towards the animal, only considering him mildly annoying at best.
Azraël Endbringer[]
The only other survivor of Lorekeeper's origin universe. Azraël, originally merely known as Asriel Dreemurr, is Lorekeeper's adoptive brother and greatest enemy. The reason she hates him is unknown, but common knowledge is that he is the person that Lorekeeper wants to see dead the most. Oddly, Azraël doesn't seem to hate his "sister" but to adore her instead, to the point where he tries to destroy her actual lifestyle to have her with him. He also seems to want to bring back the darkness the woman hides in herself.
Shadow[]
Wolfy's boyfriend. Lorekeeper gets along with him and sometimes asks him help to organize music-based events in the Homeverse. They do not meet a lot though.
Chasm[]
They are both in the same reading club. Lore dislikes her pretentiousness, but enjoys debating with her on books she likes.
System_32 Human[]
The heart of the Alteraverse. Only the concepts, Lorekeeper, and Genji know where to find him.
Paint[]
One that has lived in the Homeverse for a long time. Paint is a versio of Ink!Sans that Lorekeeper has given a soul to, providing her emotions this way. Lorekeeper has tried to bring her to become an architect to help with the buildings around the Homeverse. She is known to be sympathetic, and as many Inks, be interested in art. Her main art of interest, however, would be architecture.
NewLie/Kristal[]
Lorekeeper and NewLie have a complicated relationship. While they are both on the same side and have very similar goals, NewLie dislikes Lorekeeper's schemes and distrusts her. Meanwhile, Lorekeeper dislikes that NewLie ignores White_Glitch's existence as much as possible and that she even rejects the woman. Despite this, as soon as it becomes necessary, they will not hesitate to put their disagreements and work together for the greater good.
Matilda Hopkins[]
Matilda originally was an enemy of Lorekeeper. She presented herself as an exterminator of creature of darkness, even taking a nickname opposite to that of Lorekeeper: The White Priest. However, since she has understood that Lorekeeper is a good person, their relationship has become better to the point of even being friends. Lore often is the one to take care of Mattie when she gets drunk during Homeverse parties, and they sometimes spend time together.
Pirashi[]
A good friend of Lorekeeper and a very close associate of Mattie. Alongside Masune, Lore tends to help her to make her and Matilda a couple, though she doesn't have as many ulterior motives as Masune does.
Narra[]
Narra is the concept of death and destruction. The two beings are good friends, and Narra even trusts Lorekeeper enough to give her the Necronomicon. If Vyz is closer to Matilda (mostly since she's the priest's tutor), Narra, due to her serious, polite, and responsible behavior, is closer to Lorekeeper.
Vyz[]
Vyz is the concept of life and creation. One day, as she was distracted because the births of many animals made that the Multiverse started to contain too many strange and absurd creatures, making it that it wouldn't have enough place for others to live in, and due to her irresponsibility, she sent Mattie to hunt Lore so the witch would leave her alone, but she eventually had to give up. Since then, Vyz and Lorekeeper are progressively getting along more and more.
Nolan[]
The most average man of the whole Alteraverse, worker for many persons, especially Ombrage Inc. Nolan has multiple jobs in the Homeverse, sometimes working for Lorekeeper. Lore appreciates his work while not believing that he is that good at it. He's just an employee like any other for her, that does as much as he is tasked with, and that knows how to adapt to maintain his place.
Genji[]
The Examiner of the Alteraverse is a true nightmare for Lorekeeper. Though she is friendly and fair, the Examiner has no pity for others when it comes to evaluating them, also maintating constant pressure to remind the importunate inhabitants of the Multiverse of the tasks they have been assigned to. Depending on the mission, she can become either a precious ally or a near-insurmountable obstacle. But in her free time, she is a gentle housewife, that works hard and independent, whose counsel are wise most of the time. She is one of the few persons to have actually beaten Lorekeeper.
Trivia[]
- She originally was nicknamed Chara or Charline by Azraël Endbringer, back when both were close to each-other. Back in the day, she was calling him "Azzy".
- Lorekeeper was planned to be a much more morally ambiguous character. She ended up being a protagonist, however.
- The original concepts and ideas for Lorekeeper have been created in a rp between Glitch_C and Alteraverse King.
- Lorekeeper is the only witch to not participate in the "SABBAT" of the Alteraverse.
- Lorekeeper has lived a long depression period after having eaten her AU. Said depression took a long time to vanish, thanks to the combined effort of White_Glitch, Wolfy!Chara, Marie, Paint, Tetsuka, and Masune. Especially Masune.
- She is classified as a "troublemaker" by the Guardians mainly because of Martial, as the cat does everything to make sure that they all have and maintain a terrible impression of her.
- Lorekeeper was originally planned to be said to be a Chara that originates from an Undertale "AT", but it was discarded.
- Lorekeeper hates all the seasons, but has a particular hatred for fall, where she has her period and finds herself to be in a dreadfully bad mood with almost everyone.
- She, however, loves thermal springs.
- The idea that Charline has a gun (though she uses less often through time) may have been inspired by Interlopers.
- Two minor inspirations for Lorekeeper were Cynthia from Pokémon and Yukari Yakumo from Touhou Project.
- Lorekeeper was originally planned to be in a relationship with White_Glitch back in the original roleplay, but it was discarded for her to be with Masune.
- Masune is the only person allowed to call Lorekeeper "Lorrie". While Azraël Endbringer also does so, he is not supposed to be allowed.
- Lorekeeper likes to prank and exasperate people that she believes are "too confident".
- The Alteraverse mentioned throughout the whole article is just the Multiverse where the character has been put by its creator. While the Alteraverse itself is technically open for use, much like Lorekeeper!Chara herself, it is not close to mandatory to use Lorekeeper in. She has also already been proposed to be added into other Multiverses.
