"Propastras, absolwutlee propastras!"
– Redactem (in a non-canon post)
REDACTEM, Divine Sila of plot (or just 'Redactem') is an Outcode variant of Temmie that was created by Comedylad (aka "The Lad" or Funnysterk). She was a fabrication of a creator figure whose vision is to criticize and moderate the multiverse. She was created as a Sila, a type of outcode indoctrinated or formed by creators to serve a specific task, and are often granted a SOUL that is connected to a very specific concept that is best observed in a novel or film.
Created in the doodlesphere, Redactem would be the first ever 'Sila' to exist, being given the job the very moment she woke up after her birth. At first confused and petrified, she would take the hand of the man who gave her life and being lead into the role of moderation, with the goal of terminating those responsible for vandalism and forcing anomalies to conform to a defined standard based on what was set up by the multiverse.
Biography[]
REDACTEM was a creature that was formed within the doodlesphere years after the creation of Ink, the first person who discovered the doodlesphere. A creator under the guise of "The Lad" had planned her creation for years, with the intention of maintaining the stability and coherency of the "UTMV" (short for UNDERTALE Multiverse, which is the space-time continuum shared among UNDERTALE Fanworks and Alternate universes). Upon creation, Redactem was confused and scared, having just been created and seeing years pass on in a matter of seconds, finding herself in front of a shady warlock who insisted on guiding her, in return asking to enforce the multiverse's renaissance via criticism and controlled destruction of worrisome AUs. She ultimately had no choice, so she ended up agreeing on this deal.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Redactem is a variation of the Dog-cat monster Temmie, who is characterized with having black-dots for eyes and white fur. In the close-up image, she is seen with black eye-sockets that are more properly aligned. She wears a black lab coat that lacks visible pockets and a white turtleneck, with a short white bandana being used to obscure the turtleneck itself. Due to her nature, she is more than likely wearing black pants, which may also lack pockets. Her height is 4'11, and she would weigh just about the same as her canon counterpart, though she is capable of shifting her form.
Personality[]
As a Sila, she has been conditioned to be stoic and critical, having a strong sense of judgment that may or may not come off as unfair or cruel. She became rather attached to formalities, and thus practices aristocratic mannerisms daily. As stated by the blog where she made her debut, "she's very pretentious, and will argue hours on end to prove herself right if it is in regards to her beliefs in literacy. She despises stagnation, she wants things to change overtime and progress, and tends to stray from agreeing to the same fashion trends as anyone else". In other words, she is pompous and thinks highly of herself and her beliefs, only showing emotion to herself and those she prizes. She has a slight distaste towards stagnation, where nothing is to ever change, and thus refuses to ever repeat the same exact routine or series of events as a day before.
However, behind her posh etiquette and her toxic nature as a critic, she is clueless and apprehensive, worried about what others think of her and constantly trying to avoid being replaced, as if she is to break protocol, she is aware that her punishment will be an agonizing body-reset where she will be erased and resurrected, which is a process referred to as "replacement". She seems to also cherish the smiles of those who are responsible for creating the multiverse, but paradoxically seems to hate the creations if they fall under her radar as objectively flawed, which will inherently disgust her... she has been conditioned to despise what is referred to as "The Sansverse", the idea of a multiverse that is populated purely by one person (sans), and was tasked with the need to destroy it by any means necessary.
Abilities[]
Plot manipulation: As the Sila of Plot, Redactem is connected to the narrative aspect of creation, which in non-narrative terms would be the causality and fate of the multiverse, making her practically a God. Using her own magic, she can influence the sequence of events wherever she is, allowing for impossible events to be possible. She is limited purely by her imagination and her condition, as the severity of this manipulation may cost more energy from her body. Erasing someone from every plane of existence may have a drastic affect on her, whilst something as simple as a rubber ball appearing somewhere may cost next to none. Due to this, her creator (whose authority is higher than her's) has made it a rule that she can only use this to fight someone in self-defense or when confronting an anomaly that falls under a list of anomalies she is sent to eradicate... Multiverse "Gods", problematic outcodes, and things that completely contradict a good chunk of the UTMV's Multiverse logic are these said targets. Through plot manipulation, Redactem can make events happen and change the future, rescripting stories as if she was the writer behind everything, being able to change fate, state of existence, or even rewrite someone completely given the jurisdiction.
Monster (Temmie) Physiology: As a variant of the Temmies, Redactem is capable of shaping and extending her body for as long as she has the energy to do so, being able to stretch her limbs and remove her facial features without removing her face at all. Being a Temmie also gives her the ability to throw Temmie flakes, which is an edible cardboard magic that is shared among the species... though it does come at the prices of having a speech impediment which is akin to baby-talk.
Professional writing: More of a skill than an ability, to compensate for her inability to speak properly, Redactem has trained in the art of the pen, and is capable of writing in perfect cursive, even being able to spell the most complicated words... though her hand-writing is naturally large, making it take time for her to adjust.
Trivia[]
- Her tongue is a pale Cyan color (like the inside of her ears), but she tends to drench her mouth with black food coloring to match her outfit.
- She would love to have ownership of multiple sets of clothes, but she doesn't have a house, let alone a closet.
- Her favorite food is hot rice, which is supposedly a type of rice which uses the same "water sausage" that's used in the hotcats and hotdogs in UNDERTALE.
- Redactem is ambidextrous, but she prefers to use her left unless she isn't being watched.
- Her design stems from two different things, one being the common fanon interpretations of Gaster where he is depicted as a sophisticated royal scientist, and a piece of fanart where Temmie is depicted as Gaster and Gaster is depicted as Temmie.
- The reason that Redactem prizes Underfell over any other AU is due to her fixation towards aristocracy and royalty, hence her gravitating towards the AU's version of Asgore.
- It seems her overall facade is meant to be akin to that of the character "Anton Ego" from the movie Ratatouilie, a highly judgmental critic whose criticism indirectly lead to the death of Chef Auguste Gusteau, which ties well to Redactem's job as a plot-based AU moderator whose job is focused on criticism.
- However, as a uber-former critic, Redactem more fond of Milk than wine, which detracts from the stereotype of uber-aristocratic critics which could be seen drinking wine. This detail may be a play-on reference to the detail of wine being served in the movie a couple times in key moments, the first time being an interaction between Chef Skinner and Alfredo, and the second being when Anton is waiting for a meal to be cooked by Remi, the Movie's protagonist.
- Also akin to the highly renowned critic, who is secretly more humble than he seems as shown at the end of the movie, both seem to only really do their criticism thoroughly knowing they are being watched, though it seems they share an affinity towards criticism and thus can still be attributed for death (though as opposed to Anton, Redactem is responsible for the direct eradication of AUs).
